The Mikado Testers Convention took place on June 21-24 2018. Over 50 Mikado Fishing Team members participated, including testers from both Poland and other European countries such as the Czech Republic, Spain, Romania and the Netherlands.
The convention was the perfect place for team bonding by the incredible Lake Czorsztyn.
The event included the I MIKADO TOTAL FISHING TOURNAMENT.
During two days of competition we had:
● The Mikado Total Fishing Individual Spin Fishing Competition
● The Mikado Total Fishing Team Spin Fishing Competition
● The Mikado Total Fishing Individual Bottom Fishing Competition
The weather wasn’t kind and the fish were not making it easy either. Over 20 degrees of temperature variation, rain, storms and strong winds only served to make the anglers crave success even more. Despite the weather the Team was in great spirits. Everyone was required to respect the Rules of Amateur Fishing that apply in Poland and the particular regulations in place on Lake Czorsztyn as well as the general spirit of fair play, cooperation and idea exchange.
Considering the conditions feeder and method feeder quickly emerged as the most effective bottom fishing techniques. The local carp were not cooperating with the anglers who tried classic rigs and smaller fish were dominant (roach and bream). The winners of the 2018 Mikado Total Fishing Individual Bottom Fishing Competition were:
I place Piotr Bogdanowicz – 10 400 points.
II place Andrzej Ślosarz – 9 300 points.
III place Marcin Liberadzki 960 points.
The weather was the hardest on spin anglers, who competed from boats individually as well as in teams. The sudden weather change completely altered the conditions on the lake, which made locating and catching big fish that much harder and the rules of the competition favoured versatile anglers who could switch it up easy and could catch perch, pike and zander. Those were the species that earned you points and there was a special bonus for catching all three. It was clear after the training session that perch would be the hardest to catch and it would take a few kilometers to find a shoal of them, which could take up one whole round (4 hours). Considering this, most anglers decided to quickly catch a zander, change tackle and go looking for pike in a shallow bay and then spend their time chasing perch. The winners of the 2018 Mikado Total Fishing Individual Spin Fishing Competition were:
I place Karol Lasota - 5 280 points.
II place Artur Matuszewski - 4630 points.
III place Grzegorz Kajciński - 2200 points.
The second day of spin fishing was all about the team scores but the points of each participant also counted towards their individual score. This made the competition even more heated because you could fix the mistakes you made the previous day and still win the 2018 Mikado Total Fishing Team Spin Fishing Competition. Karol Lasota and Ania Lasota, the leaders after the first day, worked hard to catch perch and finally managed to edge out the competition. The team medals went to
I place Ania and Karol Lasota – 4440 points.
II place Rafał Światłoń, Artur Matuszewski – 2300 points.
III place Tomasz Nierada, Dawid Kaszlikowski – 1390 points.
There were also prizes for the biggest fish:
● Biggest zander – Karol Lasota 68 cm
● Biggest pike - Karol Lasota 65 cm
● Biggest perch – Artur Matuszewski 32 cm
● Biggest carp – 44 cm Piotr Bogdanowicz
This event proved yet again that TOTAL FISHING is the perfect slogan for our brand as well as our team. Congratulations everyone and thank you so much for being part of our passion!
See you on the water!
