Time has come to sum up the recently finished carp season. Most important event of this year for me, that made this publication possible was the one where I joined the exclusive group of testers of Mikado Fishing Team. Due to that new cooperation, I met some amazing people – true fishing freaks and I could test some incredible equipment.
During the past season great deal of my attention was caught by the Lentus Speed Runner reel that I have been testing since spring. It is an amazing reel worth a solid recommendation. It has been fitted with a really sturdy mechanism and reliable free runner system. It appears that those reels work perfectly well with the well-known rods such as M-ka 10'- 3lbs. Another part of the equipment that played major role in my last year’s fishing adventures was a landing net fitted with a rigid M-NET ring, that helped me chase the carps among endless fields of reed. There was also a Cradle Mat that made the unhooking together with the photo shooting safe and possible at all. All the other items, not mentioned here, also did a great job and caused no issues at all. I simply cannot wait for all the other novelties that are being delivered to our warehouse as you are reading this.
Obviously equipment was not everything! This season I managed to meet carp anglers that I previously met at the fisheries. They make up a bunch of really fascinating people that have tremendous experience and knowledge about carp angling. Chance to exchange the experience with such a crowd is simply an invaluable as a fishing lesson. There are some of them that I only met through the phone call - even though we were angling on the same date and time, at the same spot! I am more than certain though, that our ways will eventually cross somewhere around spring. I also discovered plenty of lakes filled with big fish. By the way to this year’s “new year resolution list” I am adding a point about finding some new carp territories. I believe that due to the Garmin fishfinder that joined my equipment list on the Christmas Eve day, my fishing expeditions will get to a new level. Firstly, due to a fact that precise location of the fish will become much easier to obtain. Secondly, the lakes that I choose often don’t have properly traced bottoms, hence the collected data will make a really valuable input. You can expect the review soon to come.
Now I am recalling multiple beautiful moments of the last year, spent in the woods by the lake together with my family. Despite the tough conditions, annoying moose and other wild animals, rodents and insects, my family still eagerly participates in a few-day expeditions where we pursue Masurian carps. We often recall those unique moments – evenings, spectacular dawns accompanied with misty sunrises, bonfires with sausages marshmallows and potatoes, morning coffees and scrambled eggs with mushrooms that we picked in the forest beforehand.
I will never exchange that place – those lakes – for anything else. See you there next season!
