This autumn when we heard American weather forecasts claiming that the winter would be surprisingly light we smiled with disbelief remembering the previous winter, which was pretty close to another ice age. Brrr.
We tend to approach long term forecasts with a grain of salt, but this one came true! Spring-like temperatures outside, no snow or ice, birds singing – spring in February! Sitting at home, Walec and I are talking about where to go fishing. We choose a nearby reservoir of a Rybnik plant which, by the way, never freezes over due to “discarding of warm water”.
We decided to use the occasion to test some new equipment from the 2014 offer. We started with the feeders form the X-plode family armed with Baitrunner 3006 reels with Nihonto Silk Line monofilament from the newest series on the reels – we begin with ground fishing.
After shooting out a few protein bait balls with a sling-shot we have first bites after no more than 10 min, some sizeable breams. Almost 50 cm long specimens seem interested in our sets for over an hour. Due to rather delicate bites, Walec says we should switch to pickers.
His weapon is his favorite toy – Tsubame Picker 2.7, I’m attacking with my favorite, “Black Draft 2.7”. The change of the equipment brings immediate effects, as bites that were delicate before become quite visible, and hook ups certain. The day should be counted as successful – the fish cooperated nicely. Walec found a “new love” in the form of X-Plode Medium Feeder 360 armed with Baitrunner 3006 reel (a great set for the more demanding anglers).
Nihonto Silk Line monofilament worked great – very soft, silky in touch, its loose coils slide off the reel, casts become smoother, softer and farther.
Good luck on your fishing trips: Walec i Viko
